This place has great wings and chicken wings! The customer service is great, although I'd recommend getting their early. Good food=good business in the 6:30-8:00 range. 😁

This was a really good place to eat. I will definitely be going back when i come back to Raleigh. I had the 4 meat sampler and everything was good. While all the meats tasted good the BBQ chicken was outstanding. The collards had a great taste as well. I didn't get the macaroni and cheese or fried okra but i will next time. The desserts looked amazing but I was so full I didn't get once. This is definitely a spot to eat if you haven't. You won't be disappointed.

A great experienceI went for lunch and you get a good bang for your buck. I ordered. Combo plate with fried chicken, brisket, mac and cheese and french fries. Everything was hot and fresh including the complimentary biscuit and hush puppies. The service was fast and friendly. I'd definitely reccomend.

Went on a Saturday at lunchtime, was extremely busy but worth it! Parking spaces are limited but they offered valet parking, which was great. The food came out fast and everything we had was very good but was lukewarm. Portions were ample and I'd return, maybe at a less busy time.

A little disappointed. Came on a Tuesday night. Easy valet parking. No wait. Wait staff was pleasant. Took our order quickly. The food came out very quickly which was a little surprising. We ordered chopped plate, combo pulled and fried chicken as waiter raved on it. The food came out extremely fast and we commented on that.Pulled pork in fried chicken collards and mac and cheese sodas. The hush puppies and biscuits were hard and cold. As was the fried chicken that's why the service was so quick. It had been sitting and was not prepared fresh. Very disappointed a much different experience than in the past. Definitely did not receive the value expected for the price. Not sure I can recommend.

This is the "Uptown" barbecue restaurant, and the proper introduction to NC barbecue.Outstanding food and atmosphere. The bbq fries are a standout appetizer. The banana pudding is one of the South's best.

Visited twice on a Sunday whilst I was in town. Lunch was pretty busy, yet I was able to get a seat at the bar. The staff were friendly and efficient. I tried the salad and it was very good. The bowl of chili excellent. I had time to kill and tried the ice cream both the bourbon and the strawberry ice cream was excellent. In the evening I had time to spare and found the restaurant was popular but not so busy. Unfortunately, they did not have any non alcoholic beer, yet, the cider was an excellent substitute. I tried as a quick bite to eat the fried breaded mac and cheese and it was perfect. The accompanied sauce was pretty good and matched the mac and cheese. If I was downtown again I'd certainly visit.

The food was amazing, even the vegan soy nuggets! We had seven people and everyone loved what they got (most were meat eaters). The service was super fast. Would definitely go back.

Really good food! Service was great. Nice environment. Not a big fan of the bbq sauce but the pulled pork and brisket were on point!

Guaranteed good! I've visited Raleigh a few times and this is always a "must do" on my list. For my last visit, we had an event here and the staff offered excellent service in a private room. Pulled Pork and Beef Brisket are excellent...coming from Texas I can say the Beef Brisket is top notch here. The Pimento Cheese Balls and Fried Green Tomatoes are great starters...try the latter with some red pepper vinaigrette. Save room from some of their banana pudding...it's worth it!

The Pit does everything right. Their wings, Carolina BBQ, brisket, turkey, sides are cooked to perfection and seasoned deliciously. Haven't had anything I didn't enjoy here. Staff are friendly and accommodating, prices are good and portions are more than adequate.

Hands down best BBQ I have had in The Triangle. EVERYTHING was delicious, from the brisket, pulled pork, turkey to the hush puppies. And the chocolate cake was WOW! Got take out for my husbands birthday and it did not disappoint! Can't wait to go back and eat in!

The chopped BBQ pork is awesome! It is eastern North Carolina style with a vinegar sauce. We also had the Carolina style ribs which were good, and the brisket is tasty too, but different from Texas style. Good beer list as well.

This is often cited as one of the best places to get BBQ in Raleigh.I got the Double Combo with brisket and chopped BBQ.I did not find it *amazing* and would say that The Pit is overrated. However, it was still an enjoyable meal.

Nice atmosphere, helpful staff and parking nearby. Barbeque chicken was very dry. Potato salad was also too dry and needed a little more seasoning. Green beans are wonderful. Macaroni and cheese bites are amazing. My favorite is the banana pudding, southern style like my Grandma used to bake. Truly delicious. There were four of us and teveryone enjoyed their meal.

The flavor is amazing, everything was fresh and the service was excellent. We have passed by this place a lot in the past but the smells finally got to us and we had to try it. Now I regret not going sooner. Highly recommended

Top quality food! My vote is always in favor of the brisket (they've always given me the fatty pieces) and mac and cheese. Food came out much faster than expected which you cant complain about and overall service was great. If you are downtown and craving some legit BBQ I recommend here!

Excellent barbeque and FAST friendly service. From free valet parking right out front to food prepared so fast you won't believe it! And who would have thought gourmet dessert? Local farms support this magic and they have local spirit options as well.

Very good! Love getting the biscuits and hush puppies to start. BBQ is a little smoky, but good flavor. Love the sweet potato casserole. The Mac and cheese had a thick top layer that I didn't love, but the noodles were good. Nice place to visit and then go next door to Vidieri for dessert!

The place inside had the southern home feeling vibe. The staff was great and the food was soooooo good! I went with my family and they enjoyed it as well. The mac and cheese, fried chicken, pulled pork with bbq sauce, corn bread, and everything else that we had was so yummy and true to southern cooking. Definitely coming back!!

I was so excited to go to The Pit having long heard about it's amazing food and service. Although the service was as excellent as I expected the food left a lot to be desired. The pork barbecue was not at all good and none of us ate it and the brisket just tasted off. The biscuits weren't particularly good either and what I think were hush puppies were just tiny little rocks of cornmeal. One highlight was the for cheese balls which were delicious. Most everything else was mediocre at best. I was very disappointed.

Perhaps the premier BBQ in the area, certainly the place for impressing friends and house guests. Not cheap. The brisket is the best in town. Do make a reservation and take advantage of the valet parking. Parking is not allowed at the shopping center lot across the street; a watchful guard is looking for parties that park and then walk to the Pit. Also a fun place for Thanksgiving with smoked turkey, ham and all the trimmings for a fixed price. The Pit also has a location in Durham but I liked this one much better.

Awesomely friendly staff, amazing food. Super quick service with a friendly attitude. My first time trying BBQ in North Carolina. They do not disappoint! Γ°ΕΈβ€˜ΒProps to the management as well - they must treat their people right with the way everyone was acting in that place.

I have always been a huge fan of The Pit, especially for their sides. In the last year, the quality is noticeably worse. The Mac & cheese was my favorite, so flavorful, and now it's like EasyMac. The green beans aren't cooked well enough. The biscuits are no longer authentic southern flour. I used to be able to justify the price for the quality. No longer. Wonder what happened here, it's a bummer.

We went here because of the reviews and it did not disappoint! Ribs others I was with were a little dry, but everything else was just fabulous. Super fast service, was perfect for us on a Sunday evening but if trying to take your time I would suggest an app and/or just let them know you aren't in a hurry. The staff was incredibly friendly from front desk to the team servers

I honestly thought I did not even like BBQ - bc I am not the biggest meat eater. But then I met Big Paulie ... owner of PIT BBQ, who is sweetest guy and who gave me the MOST DELICIOUS MEAL which included -LOCAL NC Pulled BBQChopped BBQ TurkeyCorn BreadMac n CheeseCollard GreensFried Okraand OMG - best meal ever. I dunno if it was "cooked with Love" or what, but def a fan of this BBQ and could eat this meal all day, everyday.

Maybe it was because we had just come from Savannah and Charleston (and had AMAZING bbqÒ€¦) but I thought this place was just OK. The food was good... don't get me wrong, but it just wasn't memorable. (With the exception of the chili... which was fantastic!) With that said, the service was friendly, attentinve and impeccable. The ambiance is great. Overall... a good place to get some food. Unfortunately, just not great.

Very very good. The fried chicken was the best I've ever had and that's not an exaggeration. The brisket was not that great but the quality of the other dishes made up for it. The potatoes and gravy so good. Mac and cheese so good. Brunswick stew so good. Two thumbs up. Plus the dessert was heaven

Great ribs. The pulled pork tasted old, like it had been sitting out a while. Hush puppies are not as good as they were years ago. Still a decent spot.

This is my absolute favorite upscale BBQ place in Raleigh. You have the try the Pimento BBQ fries and the BBQ egg rolls! I would recommend this place to ANYONE. Whether you want to take someone on a date, family function, or work event this restaurant is 100% worth visiting downtown Raleigh. Bring $$ to valet your car tho, parking is very strict and scarce!

This place has the best hush puppies I've ever tasted (and they're complimentry). Every time I visit Raleigh I must come here for the ribs and fried chicken. The deviled eggs are so so smooth and delightful. I'm almost afraid to try any thing else. Definitely go with the sampler to get a taste of all they have to offer.

The inside of the restaurant is beautiful. It smells like BBQ heaven but you donÒ€ℒt leave smelling like you stood inside the grill. To start, they bring you a basket with some biscuits and hush puppies and the biscuits are perfectly fluffy with a little crunch. Add the whipped sweet butter and itÒ€ℒs divine. The hush puppies were perfectly crispy and little sweet; they are sublime. We ordered the deviled eggs and they truly reminded me of being home in Georgia at a baby shower; so familiar and so good. Now for the entrees: Some of the sides are a miss like the potato salad and the sweet potato soufflé but the macaroni and cheese and the brussel sprouts were amazing. The fried chicken is so delicious that it tastes like your grandma or older auntie fried it. The Carolina BBQ is a unique taste, with its Apple Cider Vinegar base, but its a good unique. We enjoyed the chopped pork, the brisket and the ribs. All in all, I would certainly give this place another try.

Back home for the holidays, I had to stop at my favorite BBQ spot, THE PIT. you can't miss it, it's right on Davie Street. The barbecue is simply the best. Even the fried chicken is great. Amazing sides and comfortable seating. My family loves The Pit. You will too.
